Is good for you Komrade!
shutdown slim-down stuff has gone on long enough. It's time for the Republicans to play a rather nasty card, sit back, and watch things implode. I was thinking this a while back, but thought I was missing something because it seemed like too good (and funny) of an idea. Then over the past couple days I've read some more professional pundit types say the same thing.
The idea is to agree to everything the President wants as far as a spending bill and hands off Obamacare on one single condition: All exemptions cancelled. As in, every single citizen in the United States, including Congress and the President himself, as well as cronies and campaign donors no longer are exempt from the Affordable Healthcare Act.
I mean, what can Obama do if the Republicans brought that proposal? If he says no, well then obviously the Republicans can go on a political soundbite spree saying that Obama thinks his healthcare law is good enough for the unwashed masses, but not good enough for important people like him and his friends. If he says yes, his cronies, campaign donors, and his party will oppose him, even if quietly. Darned if you do, darned if you don't.
It isn't even some kind of nuclear option. It's bringing out the hypocrisy of the entire thing on a level that nobody could miss. It's what I'd do anyway. Sounds like the perfect political play.
