Moms taught us how to walk, how to talk, and cleaned up our behinds. They taught us how to read, and put bandaids on us when we fell out of trees. They took us to baseball practice, music lessons, and helped us with our homework. They taught us things about love and respect, and helped us grow up to become who we are, sometimes in spite of ourselves.
We are able to trust others, treat each other decently, and laugh at ourselves because of Moms. Ever wondered about the connection between music and the sound of a small child laughing? Ever been spontaneously moved to help a total stranger who needed help? Know what it feels like to be in the presence of something greater than yourself? Moms, by example, taught us all that. Empathy and altruism are traits shared only by human beings, and only if they learned it from their Mom.
To all Mothers everywhere, thank you.
